Make Do #2: Singing This is one of my favorite churchy songs. It was first published in the 1860's and is attributed to an American Baptist minister. To go with my market theme this month of locks and keys, I've included one of each on this chart. And you can see why the bird is singing -- she's free from her cage! Kit is $20.00 -- and when they're gone, they're gone. You can sign up to get these automatically, and your 12th will be free. Or you can just them up as you need them. Each kit will be a "Make Do," which means each time, you'll have to dig through your stash and find something to complete the project. This time, you get the fabric, the hand-dyed threads, and even the chenille trim to finish as a little pillow/ornament/what have you. But you're missing a color for your bird. Look through your stash, and find a great bird color. Pick your favorite!

Here is a preview of what Jenny Bean has been up to -- this will be a market release. I can tell you it is stitched in Gentle Art threads (not limited editions) on Navy Bean Vintage linen by Lakeside Linens. No title yet -- anyone have any good ideas? It'll be finished in an Olde Colonial burl wood dowry box. You may pre-order starting now ... it's going to be WONDERFUL! She has more in store for market...I will post here as I know more... she doesn't always tell me what she's working on.
Oh, hey, and while I'm thinking about it, I was talking to Anne at the Goode Huswife yesterday. She is getting married and moving to BELGIUM in April!!! She will have one more (final) book of retired/new designs at market, and supplies will be very limited. It'll be $79.00 and will come with eight retired and two NEW Quaker samplers. I have some quantities left of her first three books available (you can see pictures at her web site at www.shopworks.com/samplers/. It'd be wise, also, to get any of her other designs now (while they're still available.) Wish her luck!
Anew series by Lizzie Kate! Green Flips! $4.50 per graph (got the first three in the mail today). Each graph comes with a button, too. Order the series from me, and get the border graph and border graph buttons for FREE! Piece is stitched on 32 ct. Light Mocha Belfast. Fabric is $15.00. I can send you the threads, too (mixture of Sampler Threads/Weeks Dye Works and Crescent Colours.) Get green!

New series by Little House Needleworks! $19.00 every other month for TWO charts and full skeins of the Crescent Colours flosses to do both. A fun series, and very finishable each month. Wouldn't a basket of pillows be too, too cute? Stitched on natural linen, or use up scraps you've got.
This graph just came in this week, and I wanted to show it to you, since Valentine's Day is right around the corner. It's Love and Be Loved by With Thy Needle & Thread. Chart is $9.00

Still feels cold (from being on the UPS truck). It's Winter Wonderland, the next Loose Feathers pattern by Blackbird Designs. The chart is $9.00. If you'd like the hand-dyed linen and fibers to go with it, it's an additional $33.20. SO CUTE!
Monthly Teaspoons -- the first of the graphs is here, for January Teaspoon. If you want to stitch the series, you will need: 1/4 of 30 ct. Havana linen by Weeks Dye Works. The threads list for the entire project is...Weeks Dye Works Baked Apple, Chrysanthemum, Crimson, Eggplant, Guacamole, Kudzu, Molasses, Parchment (3), Straw (3); Crescent Colours Blackbird, Copper Penny, Queen Bee, Spinach, Sugared Violets, Wavy Navy; Sampler Threads Dungarees, Liberty, Pumpkin Pie, Wood Trail, PLUS the button packs for all 14 parts (the top and bottom of the graph are two separate charts.) The charts are free as long as you get the button packs. Join up -- SPOON!
All righty then, it's February, and I have just received about 30 more yards of my Ukranian antique linen. This is hand-loomed and about 28/30 count and a natural color. You could cross stitch on this defintitely, use in sewing projects, or just display. If you buy multiple yards, I will send as one piece (rather than as individual cut yards). You must order at least one yard, but you may then order in half yard increments (so, 1 1/2 yards is OK.) The possibilities are nearly endless. The linen is not. Here's what I've got -- while it lasts:
- 15" width $31.00/yard
- 16" width $32.00/yard
- 18" width $36.00/yard
- 19" width $39.00/yard (this one is a little bit nuttier in colors than the others...a little deeper, and sooo nice).
Here's one of my new designs for market in two weeks -- you can pre-order now. The chart is $9.00, the fabric cut (32 ct. Porcelain by Lakeside Linens) is $12.50, and the hand-dyed silks by The Thread Gatherer are $34.00. Thanks, Mona, for your great finishing job!
Hey, if you don't get my newsletter, send an e-mail to xspeddler@yahoo.com, and I'll put you on the list. Oh, go to Theresa's Basket for the newest things. Other places to find me...the Shakespeare's Peddler Blog is at www.shakespearespeddler.blogspot.com, and I have an Etsy shop, too, at www.shakespearespeddler.etsy.com. And you can find all of my reproduction and orginal sampler designs on the Shakespeare's Peddler page of my site.

Saturday's Orphan: I have four of these books left by Blackbird Designs -- "A Fine Collection." Get FOURTEEN projects in this book for only $26.00. You can stitch all year, for Pete's sake. Crazy about the Daily Orphan? You can find LOTS of orphans on my Etsy page at www.shakespearespeddler.etsy.com.

This Month's Sampler Kit of the Month is Eye on the Sparrow, by Silver Creek Samplers. The original was stitched on some 28 count linen with DMC floss. I've converted it to hand-dyed linen in 30 count with Sampler Threads. For $35.00 you get the chart, the hand-dyed linen, the hand-dyed fibers and the conversion graph. Every kit of the month this year will be a sampler...some old, some new. Join on and get the sampler every month, and your 12th month is free.
Fabric of the Month: I will be doing both 30 AND 35 count this year in SAMPLER COLORS. Some of these will be repeats from the past two years. But they're all sure to be perfect for your stash. $19.00/quarter yard -- make sure to tell me if you want 30 or 35 count, and you can get half, or whole yards as well. This month's color is MOCHA!

Another free (bird) chart this month. Blackbird Designs released this quite a while back (as you can see). But it's sooo cute. This would be adorable stitched over-one, and equally-so over-two. The chart comes free with any order, but if you want the supplies, $16.30 will get you an eighth of a yard of hand-dyed linen in "Heritage" and two hand-dyed threads. Please specify 28 or 32 count.
