June 2002: A few common questions about the new shop...

Let's see, what else is new. Oh yeah, my shop. It was a lot of work, but the shop is up and going. My first day open was Saturday, which was thankfully quiet -- we got most of the rest of the merchandise set up. Everyone who helped here at the shop couldn't believe I had all of this merchandise in one room in my house (and not a big one.) I hope to have pictures up some time in the next few weeks. My dad is going to come up to take pictures, which I know will be wonderful. I decorated in kind of a garden/front porch theme, since I always dreamed of having a needlework shop that started on a front porch in a grand old house.

The building is one that was renovated 14 years ago, but my space needed some work. We sanded and refinished the hardwood floors ourselves, painted, built three enormous tables for framing and taking framing orders, installed floor boards, collected, painted and cleaned displays. I put carpet on one wall for the frame samples, and got those all up. Three old window frames are hanging from the ceiling to divide the needlework shop and the framing area (you can see through them, but it's a signal not to enter that area. I have a great iron garden bench I got at Pier One, old wooden crates that we painted on the insides then bracketed together for shelving, a potter's bench to display Lizzie Kate's pieces and designs. I even have a giant iron ant and turtle scuttling on the floor.

I've had a number of questions that I'd like to answer now to everyone (I'm sure they're common ones.)

You may still send mail orders to my Post Office Box. I've had that box too long to close it any time soon. You may also use my street address (below). My phone number, e-mail and website are all staying the same.

My hours at this time are:

¥ÊMonday 10-7
¥ÊTuesday-Friday 10-5
¥ÊSaturday 10-3

This of course means I won't be answering the phone at 10 p.m., on Sundays, or during the evenings (or in the mornings before 10). It's amazing what a difference the extra quiet at home makes.

I will continue offering the Kit of the Month, Free Chart of the Month, and Fabric of the Month, as well as various other specials. Frequent Buyer cards can continue to be added to and cashed in. In fact, you'll see very little difference from your point of view, if you get to me from the Internet.

I also will be doing custom framing. If you would like me to custom frame your pieces, either phone or e-mail me ahead of time to chat about what you want. You should insure your piece when sending it to me, and I will do the same returning it.

I have a retreat coming up this weekend (so everyone who is coming will be able to see the shop first hand). It's going to be a great time! I hope everyone has a safe and happy June.
