We're Beatles fans here, and my son and I were talking this morning about George Harrison's death yesterday. He remarked that the Beatles have had tough times: John Lennon's murder, Linda McCartney's death from breast cancer a few years ago, and now George's death from cancer. I told Harrison that all of us will have hard times like those, but that we can't live life dwelling on what could or will happen to us. We remember the sweetness of those we've lost, and hopefully we live to give happiness to others. I hope that those of you who experienced loss of any kind this year find some peace and comfort in the joy and familiarity of the holidays.
I'll leave you this month with a sampler verse that seems appropriate:
Thou, Lord, hast led thy people through the deep,
as careful shepherds guide their flocks of sheep.
O lead us with thy grace, to that blessed place,
where we may see and know thee face to face.
(from Eleanor Robson's sampler of 1805)
